Jamie Sanchez,
RN, LM

Jamie has been involved in the birthing community for more than 10 years. Her calling to midwifery began with the birth of her first child and was affirmed by her personal journey into motherhood. Following the birth of her last child, she felt compelled to make a commitment to a model of care that promotes the empowerment of women and began actively studying midwifery.

Jamie was trained using the apprenticeship method at a busy homebirth practice in San Diego County and successfully completed Seattle Midwifery School’s California Challenge Process in 2000. After passing the North American Registry of Midwives exam, with a nearly perfect score, she was bestowed a license to practice midwifery through The Medical Board of California.

Following licensure she continued to practice midwifery with a physician in San Diego before pursuing a Registered Nursing Degree. She graduated with honors from Nursing School in early 2005 at which point she decided to experience the high risk side of obstetrics in Labor and Delivery at UCSD Medical Center and then high risk medicine in the Emergency Department at TriCity Medical Center.

Feeling fulfilled with her experiences in high risk medicine she returned to her calling as a midwife and joined South Coast Midwifery in December 2007.

Jamie is the mother of four children, three dogs and two cats and lives in North San Diego County where she enjoys the temperate weather, beautiful ocean and relaxing lifestyle.
